Collection: Els Jelipins
Font-Rubí, Penedès, Spain
Glòria Garriga
Drawn to a simpler life connected to nature, Glòria Garriga left her career as an agronomic engineer in 2001 to pursue independence in Font-Rubí, Alt Penedès. Inspired by childhood visits and disillusioned with industrial agriculture, she sought a modest lifestyle for herself and her daughter. Initially vinifying in a horse stable, she faced financial struggles and skepticism toward her input-free, long-aged wines, but persistence won her recognition abroad. Without owning vines, she built strong relationships with local growers, advocating for natural methods. Her hands-off yet meticulous approach, with no sulfur added, yields wines of profound depth, aged in terracotta amphora and foudres. Producing approximately 6,000 bottles yearly under the enigmatic name Els Jelipins, her wines—vibrant, layered, and expressive—mirror her philosophy of allowing both wine and life to evolve freely. A grandmother now, she sees winemaking like parenting: guiding gently, never stifling the soul.
